4So far, so good-and my horses can dish out the abuse!
By westgapeachpit
I have ten horses-and they can scatter and waste that expensive hay like mad. So I use the small size net feeders to slow them down and drastically cut wastage. I'm down from probably 1.5 INCHES of waste hay to almost zero using bags like these. My horses eat longer, slower, and are happier and quieter in between feedings. Once they get used to use of hay bags such as these, they actually PREFER them. Time after time, I have offered hay free choice side by side with the bags-and they'll choose the bags.

The reason I originally started was that two became insulin resistant and I had to limit their intake and try to drag out their eating times. After discovering the reduction in wastage, I switched the entire herd over.

These particular bags do close down a bit when NEW. After they have been used awhile, the net will stay open for the horses to pick through. Colors are easy to see and find. Can't say anything about long-term durability yet-haven't had them long enough. Still-at this price, if you had to replace them every year, it would be worth the savings in hay costs alone.

4Large capacity
By COhorselady
I purchased this hay net so that I could fill it after the morning feed and let my horse "graze" all throughout the day until the evening feed. It holds a lot more hay than I expected (several flakes) and is very easy to fill. I worried that it might be a bit flimsy and my horse would destroy it the first day, but she pulled out the hay and left the net intact. It is a great way to prevent a horse from wolfing down all their hay in a short time and kept her busy for hours. I like it so much, I just ordered another one for my husband's horse. The ranch where we are keeping our horses is experimenting with them as well and plans to order enough for the entire herd of 45 horses. It seems to be a great buy for the price, but only time will tell if it can take the constant pulling and nibbling of a hungry horse.
