4Happily covered
By David L. Bobo
Easy to assemble and adjust. Seems to be durable and well constructed. My son has a different model that usually cost's $150-200 more and I'd say it is just as well made. Product arrived in a reasonable time. Over all I can find no reason not to recommend purchasing this product.

5Made in USA
By Mike Mello
This Lund product is made in the USA. I ordered one for a '97 Ford Ranger short bed, install time from box opening to slam 'n scram was 1 hour. The fit is great.

Pro: Materials quality is overwhelmingly excellent. The entirety of tools you are required to provide amounts to a 7/16 combo wrench or socket, and a box cutter to get the box open. Assembly is easy, even if it's the first time. Each part of the frame is high-tech etched with part number, name, and locations for all attaching parts. This is a really nice touch. The parts are all readily identifiable. Parts that assemble requiring fine-tuning of position were simple to adjust. The latch mechanism is solid - plastic pieces in the tonneau, metal receivers in the frame clamp. Nicely done latch adjustment mechanism. Last pro, a biggie - they've got a slick way of attaching the tonneau cover to the frame that is by far the easiest to work with I've ever used. No snaps. There's a two-runner deal wh ere the top runner is angled into a receiving dado in the frame, then another, parallel runner is simply palmed into a matching parallel, lower dado ala zip-lock baggie. The cover can easily be rolled up and secured at the front of the frame using attached foot-long tie straps for tall cargo. When reattached (easy - takes less than two minutes) to the frame, the tonneau cover ends up tight against the bows.

Observation: There is no actual hinge for the front of the cover to pivot on when lifting the tonneau. Rather, the frame itself acticulates in the two front clamps. This may, or may not be a problem in the presence of high winds. Our annual real estate exchange season of high winds just ended, so I cannot test to see if the tonneau becomes an airborne sail if opened in a tailwind. Lifting open the tonneau simply requires dropping the tailgate, yanking down on a pull strap, and lifting the end of the tonneau up. The hydraulic lift cylinders take it up from there. There is no external lock, nor would one be practical in a soft tonneau.

Cons, quibbles actually: The instructions could be better - namely, clamps that look similar in the installation instructions are called out by name, without the benefit of part letter callouts in each picture to make it fool-proof. The hinge clamps need to be tightened down quite a bit more than the instructions lead one to believe, to keep everything in place. Initially, the lower lift supports on mine crept back towards the tailgate after 30 minutes in the New Mexico summer sun, leaving behind the thin black rubber sheets that keep the clamps from scratching the truck's sheet metal. The black rubber sheets were put back in place, the clamps were repositioned in their proper locations, the two 7/16" bolts were cranked a bit more, and voila no creep. Corners of the tonneau frame do not seal against the bed using only the supplied stick-on rubber pieces. Some adhesive foam insul ating tape cut to fit cures that.

Summary - a good quality product, made by Americans, sold at a fair price, that goes together without much hassle and that works and looks good. It's perfect for what I needed.
